I LOVE this show! Because we only live about 30 mins north of the Mall of America, we're able to take the kids out there quite often to get on the rides, shop, etc. And although we are there maybe every other weekend, I had no idea of the extent these officers go through to keep everyone safe.
Did I also mention my husband is one of the officers? Even then, I'd been oblivious! (He's the one farthest to the right)
The show's about the security officers at the Mall of America and pretty much just what happens during the busiest time of year: Black Friday through New Years of 2009-2010. It's been getting about 1.9million viewers every Thursday nights when it airs on TLC.
A few people I've talked to have told me they didn't like the show and that it feels too scripted (ie they use really big words, etc), but really, it's not. They say what's on their minds and do what they do naturally. My husband was followed by the camera crew quite a few times and not once did he have to carry and/or read a script.
I agree that there are some very corny parts, but I personally like it, not because of my husband (because he's only cameos), but because so many interesting things happen there everyday! Also, how often do you get to watch a show based in your own backyard? The show may not be very good to others, but it still puffs me up with pride that Hollywood and the rest of the nation want to know how we Minnesotans are doing up here.
I've missed the last couple of shows, but I found out that I can still catch them online at TLC's website so that's what I'm gonna go do now!
